Tutor Support
All students have a Personal tutor. Your tutor is here to support you in your studies, to provide advice, guidance and information and is your key contact at college. You will meet regularly during group tutorials and on review days when you will discuss your progress and identify where you are doing well and what you need to work on.
A key focus in these sessions will be to:
- Review of progress & agreeing actions
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality
- Following up reports from subject tutors for students causing concern
- Referring students for extra support if needed
- Referring students to other cross college services where necessary
Tutor Assistants
All full time programmes will have an allocated Tutor Assistant who will work closely with Personal Tutors to monitor the attendance, punctuality and progress of all full time students.
Tutorial Support
Group Tutorials are a compulsory part of your course.
During group tutorials your Personal Tutor will provide information that includes:
- Information about your course
- General information about the college
- Curriculum based activities
- Cross college activities
- UCAS training and support sessions (second year students applying to university)
- Learner Voice activities
Your Personal Tutor and Tutor Assistant will also monitor and discuss your attendance, punctuality and progress during these sessions. Individual one-to-one meeting with your Personal Tutor
Your Personal Tutor will arrange appointments that will take place at regular intervals during your course. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your personal tutor for a one to one meeting to discuss how you are getting on and to identify any concerns you may have. Your Personal Tutor is there to support you in your studies, provide advice, guidance and information and is your key contact at college. With the help of your Personal Tutor you will complete an individual learning plan and this will be reviewed and added to regularly during your course.
Student Progress Review Days
These are opportunities for formal review of your progress. They are individual one to one appointments and take place during the Autumn and Spring terms. Review days are used to discuss your progress with your Personal Tutor and used to agree short term actions to help you make progress. They will look at the review of your progress written by subject tutors in your Progress Report and are a preparation for the Parents' Evenings that take place during November and March. These are in addition to the one to one progress review meetings you will have with your subject and personal tutors.
