Making a positive contribution
Becoming a Course Rep?
At the beginning of the year, every course will elect a course rep. As part of your tutorial you will be able to discuss issues that affect you at college, and then your Rep will take those issues to Student Council for discussion.
Why should I be a Course Rep?
The role of a Course Rep at Solihull College is a vital one as it allows you to have an input into how your course is run and the activities and facilities offered by the college.
As an active Course Rep (and a volunteer) you will develop new skills which will look great on your CV or University application. These include communication skills, time management, diplomacy and problem solving. You will also make lots of new friends, have fun AND make a difference to the college experience for you, your peers and future students.
Volunteering
Become a volunteer and you can make a difference to the lives of others, make new friends, gain new skills and confidence and enhance your CV or UCAS application.
Student Liaison work with V-inspired and also Step Into Sport to provide volunteering opportunities for students.
If you are interested in volunteering, take a look on the V-inspired website, enter your postcode and your interests and you will be able to find a placement in your local area. If you would like to do sports volunteering, then follow this link and download an application form today!
Charity Fundraising
Throughout the year fundraising events take place at College and in 'The Link' . Why don't you organise a special event and raise funds for your favourite charity? Come and speak to Student Liaison who will be able to give you some advice. Our 5-a-side football competition has an entry fee which raises funds for our chosen charity "The Red Ballon Appeal" for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Take your place... as a Student Ambassador
Are you confident, enthusiastic, reliable and want to GET PAID?
Being a Student Ambassador is very rewarding. Not only does it develop your communication and teamwork skills, it also increases your employability and gives you the opportunity to work in a variety of settings. What's more... It will look great on your CV.
The College recruits new Student Ambassadors each year, keep a look out for the next round of recruitment in late September.
